The 4th of July is tomorrow and Melbournians will gather all over for some American grub and a Bud Light (any excuse for a party!)

But if you can’t be bothered to cook at home, where can you go for some genuine finger-licking good food?

Last year, Trading Plates compiled a list of some of our favourites… check them out.

It’s no secret that here at Trading Plates HQ we looooove ourselves a good burger- what is more American than that? While there are many, many choices of boutique burger joints all over Melbourne and Victoria, we have found a few winners so far this year.

Some of the best burgers we have come across include the beef burger at The Beer and Burger Bar in Richmond, the Easey Cheesy at Easey’s Burgers in Collingwood, The Double Patty Smash Burger at American food favourites, Rockwell and Sons in Collingwood and The Kick-ass burger at Gloria Swanston’s Kitchen in the CBD to name a few.

If you aren’t so much of a burger fan, but are after some American smokey BBQ it is hard to go past

Meatmother or sister Meatmaiden for ribs, brisket or anything in between. Other popular choices are Le Bon Ton in Collingwood, Ike’s Rack Shack in Carlton or Fancy Hank’s BBQ in the CBD.

If fried chicken is your poison of choice, Belle’s Hot Chicken in Fitzroy and Richmond cannot be surpassed.

And for an authentic American, yet quintessential off-the-beaten-track Melbourne experience, you must check out Bourban Bar, The Kodiak Club (who incidentally also do a mean buttermilk fried chicken!)

So happy 4th of July everyone. Eat up!
