2016 has been a pretty weird year, but we are well and truly ready to forgive all its sins at the mere mention of this event.
Here to save 2016 are Melbourne company Wine Republic with their Champagne Festival, running over three days at each of their wine stores. Oh, and did we mention it’s FREE?
The festival promises to wow you with hard-to-find bubbles which have been hand-picked from only the best boutique, small production growers from across the globe.
Don’t expect big names here, it’s all about the cellar secrets of collectors and sommeliers the world over. Co-owner Tom O’Mara says after sampling boutique brands such as Larmandier Bernier, Delamotte, De Sousa and Henriot, you’ll be saying “Veuve who? Moet what?”
Well Damn, count us in!
And what better to top off an absolute stunning event than to pair it with samples from Melbourne’s award winning chocolatier, Koko Black. We can literally sleep until Christmas after this event, because there’s not much that could top it.
The festival will run from Friday the 9th to Sunday the 11th of December. It will be held each day at a different Wine Republic store:
Friday, 9th December:
118 Chapel Street6 – 8pm
Saturday, 10th December:
265 Brunswick Street
2 – 5pm
Sunday, 11th December:
226 High Street
2 – 5pm
We understand it is a busy time of year, but with a FREE offering of champagne samples and fancy chocolates, there is no doubt you can make a stop at one of these event days, perhaps you can pick up a few bottles for the festive season?
