For one of Melbourne’s hottest CBD happy hours or a meal that will satisfy your stomach for days, it is hard to go past Father’s Office.
We spoke to Managing Director, Anna Carosa Koziora about what makes Father’s Office different to every other bar in Melbourne.
Koziora has always has a love affair with the United States and holidayed there many times, so starting a Speakeasy Bar with Americana style food was a natural fit for her.
“We saw a gap in the Melbourne market for a Speakeasy bar,” explains Koziora
This belief was only strengthened when they found their location – right in the centre of the city but slightly hidden off the main street, up a set of secret stairs.
Koziora says that Father’s Office is all about delivering tasty Americana style food with a local twist.
“Inspiration for new dishes come from everywhere! We are always trailing new things, testing different flavours and keeping an eye on what the current trends are. We strive to produce items that have a great and balanced flavour profile, so the food isn’t too overpowering or bland.
“At Father’s Office we are proud of our commitment to local produce, suppliers and our local community. We have sourced some of the finest produce available to Victorians.
“The pork we provide comes from the free range sows in the Otway Ranges who are raised outdoors and fed a natural, grain based diet that is free of hormones and in-feed antibiotics.
“Our beef is born and bred from Central Victoria. One hundred per cent grass fed, they are free of any nasty chemicals, hormones or growth steroids – just the way we like it!
“The lamb we serve is also one hundred per cent grass fed, coming to us from Gippsland. This area is known for having the best lamb in Australia – this is apparently due to the salt in the grass they consume. All of their products are free of both hormones and chemicals,” continues Koziora.
“And our tender La Ionica chickens are non-caged from Victoria and are free of hormones. Because of the super special air-chilling processing they go through, there is no chance of any foul chemicals getting added to the delicious meat.”
To showcase the beautiful produce appropriately, the menus are updated seasonally.
In the cooler months you will find a heartier menu, whereas in summer with a beer on the balcony, you can enjoy some lighter options.
“Some of our most popular dishes include the buttermilk fried chicken burger with jalapeno coleslaw on a charcoal bun. The charcoal bun is a striking black colour that bring a real point of difference to the burger,” says Koziora.
“We are also well known for our popular ‘All You Can Eat Wings’ which feature four different varieties- classic buffalo, smoky Bourbon BBQ, spicy Cajun and Louisiana fried with a creole crumb.
“We believe our 300g eye fillet is the best steak in the city under $30! The serving size is substantial and the quality of meat is second to none, hormone free and born and raised right here in Victoria!”
Father’s Office’s famed happy hour offers $12 cocktails, $7 spirits, $6 bottle beers and $5 house beer, wine and cider. Koziora says their Espresso Martinis are super popular, as well as the rotating local craft beers.
