Food, ListLeave a Comment

At Trading Plates we avoid reviewing the impeccable restaurants, cafes and bars around Australia, in favour of bringing you news direct from the industry players.

But there are some amazing food reviewers out there, who are worth checking out for customer opinions.

Last year, we looked at Melbourne’s best food blogs and reviewers, but given how many new foodies are on the scene every day, we thought it was about time we brought you round two.

The blog is….

Gastrology

What they get up to….

More than just a food blog, Gastrology looks at restaurants, cafes, and foodie events, products and travel. Based in Melbourne, this highly professional operation describes and reviews a wide variety of (mostly) inner city big name restaurants, as well as smaller cafes. Not only do Gastrology review the restaurant as a whole, but their detailed descriptions of how individual dishes look and taste, really help you hone in on what your tastebuds would enjoy. And with a particular emphasis on newly opened venues and hot events that are happening, Gastrology really have their foodie finger on the pulse. Plus, their photos are to die for!

Who cares?

City slickers wanting to know about the latest and greatest new places to eat and drink, as well as special food events in Melbourne.

Where can you find them? (Apart from following their blog of course!)

What they get up to….

If you after a discerning critique of Melbourne food haunts, then The World Loves Melbourne is not for you. Like the name suggests, this blog is a celebration of all things Melbourne, encompassing everything food and culture. While it may not help you decide where to go and eat, it is a truly uplifting and fun way to appreciate our great city and the many dining options we have. The photos are fab, the vibe is great and it really makes you want to hit the town and go exploring!

The blog is….

Linnie Eats All the Food

What she gets up to….

Linnie describes herself as a “chemist by day and a food monster by night”, and she certainly seems to make her way around Melbourne’s best food haunts. Linnie not only trawls Melbourne in search of tasty grub, but has split up her adventures by states of Australia and overseas. Under each location, you can then navigate by cuisine, so while it may take a number of clicks to actually get to a review, once you are there – the info is spot on! Much more informal and personal than the operation at Gastrology, Linnie provides you with honest insight into exactly what she was thinking and tasting. However, if a chatty, Gen Y tone grinds your gears, you may want to steer clear of Linnie’s reviews, as they are conversational, bordering on stream of conciousness.

Who cares?

If you want an honest, detailed opinion about the food and overall experience of the place, Linnie is your gal.
