Anyone who is a fan of a well-hidden speakeasy bar and a cheeky cocktail would have undoubtedly been to Eau de Vie.
Their younger sister, Boilermaker House, which opened earlier this year is already making a huge impact on the Melbourne bar scene, recently taking out Australia’s Best New Bar 2015 at the Australian Bar Awards.
Boilermaker House is right in the centre of the CBD and have over 700 whiskies on the back bar, 12 rotating craft beers on tap and another 30 or so bottled beers. If you’re peckish, a cheese and meat bar as well as a full kitchen will keep your stomachs lined for all those delicious drinks.
Greg Sanderson, the co-owner of Boilermaker House, told Trading Plates just how they felt about taking out “the awesome award”.
“With so many new and incredible bars opening in Australia every year it was exciting to be even listed in the finalist for this award. We were up against some great new venues and a number of venues that, as well as us, had been opened by bartenders themselves. The concept of Boilermaker House has been in the workings for the past two years, so just getting to the stage of opening the doors was an achievement to be celebrated in itself.
“We are super happy with how the venue turned out, the product we provide our guests and our team is just fantastic to work with. To get the recognition from the industry after only operating three and a half months ago, that we are the best new bar opening in 2015, is flattering and very humbling. We are all of course excited about the future. Onwards and upwards!”
