Just when you thought smoothie bowls couldn’t get any prettier, Juliana Mare shares the latest crockery must-have for your liquid breakfasts!
Smoothie bowls are the most beautiful breakfast dish. You can have a plate of crispy fried bacon or a mountain of smashed avo, which will both taste sensational but when it comes to presentation, smoothie bowls always shine the brightest.
Colourful and creamy smoothies garnished with everything from sliced fruits, granola, nuts and even edible flowers have become a staple across the Melbourne breakfast scene.
If you prefer blending your own at home then you can create smoothies worthy of a display at the NGV thanks to the beautiful, handcrafted coconut bowls made by HEARTMADE.
Each individual HEARTMADE coconut bowl is 100% environmentally friendly; made from coconut shells and designed by hand by founder June Tran and her team of local artisans.
No two coconut shells are identical so every bowl is a unique shape and is carved and polished by hand. Not only is every bowl aesthetically gorgeous but purchasing crockery made from recycled coconut shells is a fantastic way to make your kitchen more eco-friendly.
June and her team are masters of precision with every line in the designs perfectly carved. HEARTMADE has a whole gallery of beautiful designs, different sizes and accompanying utensils to choose from.
You aren’t of course, limited to smoothies. The bowls can hold foods of any temperature so whether it’s a breakfast smoothie or stir fry for dinner, these bowls are sure to come in handy.
Given how beautiful the bowls are though, I had to make a delicious serve of ‘Nice-Cream’ for my first recipe. A cross between ice cream and sorbet, ‘Nice-Cream’ is a healthy, homemade frozen dessert, which is typically made from frozen fruit.
My recipe is dairy free, has no added sugar and is made with just four ingredients. Dessert (or breakfast) couldn’t get any simpler than this!
