The new Knox Ozone restaurant area is full to the brim with vibrant restaurants offering a range of authentic cuisines.
But, in amongst the bustle and colour of the precinct, ‘Fonda‘ still stands out in the crowd.
After garnering a reputation for good food and good vibes at its Hawthorn, Richmond, CBD and Windsor locations, the Mexican food franchise has landed itself a prime position in Melbourne’s South East suburbs.
As you enter Fonda’s newest location, all of your senses are assaulted- in a good way. There are bright colours splashed across the walls, and architecture reminiscent of a playground jungle gym. Oversized pendant lights dangle in varying lengths from the roof, and green hanging plants add to the fresh, funky vibe. There is sizzling heard from the hot plate, music playing in the background, and loud conversations from the packed tables. And of course, there is the smell of fresh Mexican food, that permeates your nostrils and has you rushing to your seat to feast your eyes on the menu.
Fonda, in Mexico, describes a local house with an open kitchen. It manifests the philosophy ‘Mi Casa, Su Casa!’ meaning ‘my house, your house’. The new Knox restaurant represents it’s name impeccably; with friendly, efficient staff making your dining experience a satisfying one.
Amy’s menu suggestions:
For a group, try a jug of Cloudy Russian; Belvedere Vodka, Cointreau, fresh apple juice and pomegranate, freshened with strawberries and cucumber slices.
Share a D.I.Y Tostadas Board, ensuring you add extra beef brisket.
For your main, try some prawn tacos, complete with caramelised kimchi and Japanese mayo.
