With the last round of the AFL season approaching, we thought we would think about what we should be chowing down on this weekend and into the finals!
The meat pie
There is nothing humble about a meat pie – it is practically Australia’s national food! Flakey, buttery pastry encasing delicious minced beef (we think!?) and gravy. And don’t forget the dead horse (sauce)!
Pizza can come in all different shapes and forms! You can go for a fancy, thin base with artichoke hearts and prosciutto or you can go for a good ole’ fashioned ham and cheese in a paper box at the footy. And hot damn, sometimes that just hits the spot!
Whether you’re a plain jane or whether you like to pile on the sauce, mustard, pickles and whatever else, a hotdog is rarely a wrong choice when you’re sitting out in the crisp winter air.
There is rarely anything more pleasing than a delicious, cheesey burger. Whether at the footy, the pub or at home on the couch, a burger and the game is never a wrong move!
A hot jam donut
Once you have finished with the mains, it is time for dessert! And who can go past a hot jam donut (or 6)? If you don’t finish the final quarter with sugar all over your lips and fingers then you are not doing the footy right!
