Melbourne foodies unite! Some of your favourite spots to eat will pop up in The Park, at this year’s Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Crowd faves like Huxtaburger, Biggie Smalls Kbabs, Saigon Sally, Hanoi Hannah and Gelato Messina will all be on show for the four big race meets at Flemington Race Course, as well as VRC’s very own Pony Bar.
The scrumptious line up will highlight Melbourne’s broad spectrum of culinary credentials to the fanciest Phillies and Mares at on of Australia’s most celebrated major events.
VRC Executive General Manager Customer Management Caroline Ralphsmith said this year’s food selection at The Park would be different to anything we have seen at Cup Carnivals in the past.
“With pop-ups from award-winning Melbourne restaurateurs including Shane Delia and Daniel Wilson, The Park is set to be the place to indulge in the city’s best food and beverages this Melbourne Cup Carnival,” Ms Ralphsmith said.
“Spoilt for choice, racegoers will have the opportunity to tailor their experience depending on what their tastebuds fancy. There truly is something for everyone.”
As well as scoops of Gelato Messina, sweet tooths can settle cravings with newcomers Doughnut Time, who will be baking round pieces of happiness every day of the Cup Carnival, including a special limited edition hand-dipped Carnival creation. We’re wiping drool off the keyboard.
There will also be picnic-style hampers on offer from Primo Deli, Knafeh from the Bearded Bakers and southern-style BBQ from Burn City Smokers.
Now with all this food, one does tend to get thirsty, so The Park has you covered with a two-storey Yellowglen Terrace, Cocktail Caravan Park and James Boag’s Premium Bar. For those poor designated drivers, or early entrants who went too hard the night before, Lavazza Coffee Bar will also be there to serve you liquid gold.
With all this food on offer, we suggest women buck the traditional trend of dressing to the nines in anything tight, short and bright. We’re thinking comfort, and elastic pants where possible. Just think of all the extra gelato you will fit in?!
The countdown is on for the Race that stops a Nation, with AAMI Victoria Derby Day kicking off on October 29, Emirates Melbourne Cup Day on November 1, Crown Oaks Day on November 3, and finishing up with Emirates Stakes Day on Saturday, November 5.
