Last night, Time Out Melbourne presented the winners of its 2016 Food Awards, celebrating Melbourne’s eateries.
Winners were announced at The Cut Steakhouse in Alfred Place across 14 categories including Chef of the Year, Best Food Truck and Best Cafe.
Melbourne CBD’s Embla was named Restaurant of the Year as well as Best Casual Dining Restaurant.
“Embla represents everything that’s great about Melbourne dining right now,” said Time Out’s chief restaurant critic, Larissa Dubecki.
“You can go to what is nominally a wine bar and be served a fabulous meal that doesn’t have to break the bank.“
Chef of the Year went to Aaron Turner of Geelong’s Igni, which was also named Best Fine Dining Restaurant.
The awards ceremony was hosted by Masterchef’s Sean Baxter and over 300 hungry Melbournians filled the brand new venue. They enjoyed an exquisite variety of canapes, wines, beers and cocktails while socialising with top chefs and other fans of Time Out.
It was a night to remember for winners, nominees and guests alike.
